Paros has long been noted for the exceptional fertilty of its soil and this makes for local produce of quite outstanding quality.
Apart from the obvious local fruit and vegetable growers, there are indigenous cheesemakers, beekeepers who produce a variety of local honeys, several wine producers and makers of local beer and the local raki-like spirit, known here as 'Souma'.
